What is personal data?

Personal data is data about your person that makes identification possible. This includes surname, first name, company, address and e-mail address as mandatory information, and optionally telephone and fax. Personal information may also include data from social networks such as Facebook, Xing and LinkedIn as well as other service providers.

In principle, you do not have to disclose any personal data in order to visit our website. In some cases, we need your name and address as well as your request in order to be able to provide you with the desired information or to answer your enquiry. In these cases, you give us your consent. We only store the data that you have transmitted to us automatically or voluntarily.

How is the personal data processed?

In the contact area of our website, we offer you the opportunity to contact us or to use links to certain services. We store the personal data transmitted in this way only for the purpose for which it was provided to us, such as processing your enquiry or answering any questions you may have. Your data will not be passed on to third parties.

It may happen that content from third parties, such as videos from YouTube or RSS feeds from other websites, is integrated within our website. This always requires that the providers of this content (hereinafter referred to as third-party providers) are aware of the IP address of the user. Without the IP address, they could not send the content to the browser of the respective user. The IP address is therefore necessary for the presentation of this content. We endeavour to only use content whose providers only use the IP address to deliver the content. However, we have no influence if the third-party providers store the IP address, e.g. for statistical purposes.

What data is requested?

Within the Internet offer, there is the possibility of entering personal or business data (e-mail addresses, names, addresses). The disclosure of this data is expressly voluntary on the part of the user. The use of all offered services is permitted - if and so far technically possible and reasonable - without specification of any personal data or under specification of anonymised data or an alias. However, by providing the correct optional data, you enable us to provide you with personal and individual support.

SSL encryption

To protect the security of your data during transmission, we use state-of-the-art encryption procedures (e.g. SSL) via HTTPS.
Is the confidentiality of the e-mail traffic/contact form guaranteed?

Should you wish to contact us using your own e-mail account, we would like to point out that the confidentiality of the information transmitted may not be guaranteed. If data is collected and processed via our contact form, this data is encrypted before it is transmitted. You are welcome to send us confidential information by post only.

Is data logged during my visit?

Each time a user accesses a page from our website and each time a file is retrieved, access data about this process is stored in a log file on our server.

  • IP address
  • page from which the file was requested
  • date, time
  • browser type and browser settings
  • operating system
  • the page you visited
  • amount of data transferred
  • access status (file transferred, file not found etc.).

Statistics are generated from this data, which help us to further adapt our website to your needs. A personal reference can only be derived from this if you register directly on our site or access our website from a personalised page. However, this data is never passed on to third parties, not even in part.

Are cookies used?

When you visit our website, we may store information on your computer in the form of cookies. Cookies are small files that are transferred from an internet server to your browser and stored on its hard drive. Only the internet protocol address is stored - no personal data. The legal basis for the use of cookies is Art. 6 para. 1 lit f GDPR.

Most of the cookies we use are so-called session cookies. Session cookies are automatically deleted at the end of the visit. Other cookies remain stored on your end device until you delete them or until they expire. The advantage of this is that you do not have to enter your data again and again when filling out forms. Furthermore, these cookies enable you to be recognised on your next visit.

Most browsers are set to accept cookies automatically. However, you can deactivate the storage of cookies or set your browser to notify you as soon as cookies are sent.

If you have deactivated all cookies in your browser, a so-called session ID is used to identify you during a continuous access to our website. Here too, no data is stored on your computer. The session ID is deleted again after you have finished accessing the website.

How can the use of personal data be influenced?

We adhere to the principles of data avoidance and data economy. We therefore only store your personal data for as long as is necessary to achieve the purposes stated here or as stipulated by the various storage periods provided for by law. After the respective purpose has ceased to exist or these periods have expired, the corresponding data is routinely blocked or deleted in accordance with the statutory provisions.

Google Web Fonts

Here you will find our information on the use of web fonts.

This site uses so-called web fonts provided by Google for the uniform display of fonts. When you call up a page, your browser loads the required web fonts into its browser cache in order to display texts and fonts correctly.

For this purpose, the browser you use must connect to Google's servers. This enables Google to know that our website has been accessed via your IP address. Google Web Fonts are used in the interest of a uniform and appealing presentation of our online offers. This represents a legitimate interest within the meaning of Art. 6 Para. 1 lit. f GDPR.

If your browser does not support web fonts, a standard font is used by your computer.

Further information on Google Web Fonts can be found at https://developers.google.com/fonts/faq and in Google's privacy policy: https://www.google.com/policies/privacy/.

Google Analytics

This website uses Google Analytics, a web analytics service provided by Google, Inc. ("Google"). Google Analytics uses "cookies", which are text files placed on your computer, to help the website analyse how users use the site. The information generated by the cookie about your use of this website is usually transmitted to a Google server in the USA and stored there.

However, in the event that IP anonymisation is activated on this website, your IP address will be truncated beforehand by Google within member states of the European Union or in other contracting states to the Agreement on the European Economic Area. Only in exceptional cases will the full IP address be transmitted to a Google server in the USA and shortened there. On behalf of the operator of this website, Google will use this information for the purpose of evaluating your use of the website, compiling reports on website activity and providing other services relating to website activity and internet usage to the website operator.

The IP address transmitted by your browser as part of Google Analytics will not be merged with other Google data. You may refuse the use of cookies by selecting the appropriate settings on your browser, however please note that if you do this you may not be able to use the full functionality of this website. You can also prevent the collection of data generated by the cookie and related to your use of the website (including your IP address) to Google and the processing of this data by Google by downloading and installing the browser plugin available at the following link: https://tools.google.com/dlpage/gaoptout.

This website uses Google Analytics with the extension "_anonymizeIp()". IP addresses are therefore only processed in abbreviated form in order to exclude direct personal references.

You can find more information about Google's data protection here: https://support.google.com/analytics/answer/6004245?hl=de

Google Tag Manager

This website uses the Google Tag Manager. Through this service, website tags can be managed via an interface. The Google Tool Manager only implements tags. This means that no cookies are used and no personal data is collected. The Google Tool Manager triggers other tags, which in turn may collect data. However, the Google Tag Manager does not access this data. If a deactivation has been made at domain or cookie level, it remains in place for all tracking tags, insofar as these are implemented with the Google Tag Manager.

Google Ads

We have integrated Google Ads on our website. Google Ads is a service provided by Google Ireland Limited to display targeted advertising to users. Google Ads uses cookies and other browser technologies to analyse user behaviour and recognise users. Google Ads collects information about visitor behaviour on various websites. This information is used to optimise the relevance of the advertising. Furthermore, Google Ads delivers targeted advertising based on behavioural profiles and geographic location. Your IP address and other identifiers such as your user agent are transmitted to the provider. If you are registered with a Google Ireland Limited service, Google Ads can associate the visit with your account. Even if you are not registered with Google Ireland Limited or have not logged in, it is possible that the provider will find out and store your IP address and other identification features. In this case, your data will be passed on to the operator of Google Ads, Google Ireland Limited, Gordon House, Barrow Street, Dublin 4, Ireland. We process your data with the help of Google Ads for the purpose of optimising our website and for marketing purposes on the basis of your consent pursuant to Art. 6 para. 1 lit. a. GDPR. The specific storage period of the processed data cannot be influenced by us, but is determined by Google Ireland Limited. Further information can be found in the privacy policy for Google Ads: https://policies.google.com/privacy.

Presence in social networks

We operate various online presences - fan page(s) - within social networks to communicate with active users. Furthermore, we offer visitors information about our company, our articles and services on the social media platforms.

The legal basis for the operation of our fan page(s) on social media platforms - including that for the processing of personal data - is based on legitimate interest pursuant to Art. 6 para. 1 lit. f. GDPR. The purpose is timely customer communication as well as advertising and public relations.

Your IP address is collected and stored when you access the social media platform. Usually, a cookie is set that stores your visit and other data about your visit to the social media platform.

You can regularly access the social media fan page(s) regardless of whether you have a user account on the corresponding platform itself and are logged in or not. In both cases, however, your data will be processed by the social media platform.

If you are registered on the respective social media platform, your visit will be recorded by cookies or other technical means and assigned to your user account. The social media platform is thus given the opportunity to analyse user behaviour. Under certain circumstances, a user profile is generated with your interests, which can be used to display interest-based advertising within and outside the social media platform. This can even happen across devices. Furthermore, your data may be used for market research and advertising. Furthermore, your user profile and content can be recognised. For details, please refer to the following data protection declarations and information obligations of the social media platform(s) used.

You will find a detailed description as well as the data protection declaration and information obligations of our social media platforms - Fan Page(s) behind the respective button under Data Protection.

Facebook Pixel

We use Facebook Pixel from Meta Platforms Ireland Limited, 4 Grand Canal Square, Grand Canal Harbour, Dublin 2, Ireland, to create so-called Custom Audiences, i.e. to segment groups of visitors to our online offer, to determine conversion rates and to subsequently optimise these. This happens in particular when you interact with advertisements that we have placed with Meta Platforms Ireland Limited.

We process your data with the help of Facebook Pixel for the purpose of optimising our website and for marketing purposes on the basis of your consent pursuant to Art. 6 (1) lit. a. DSGVO.

The concrete storage period of the processed data cannot be influenced by us, but is determined by Meta Platforms Ireland Limited. Further information can be found in the privacy policy for Facebook Pixel: https://www.facebook.com/privacy/explanation.

Services used and service providers:

We include functional and content elements in our online offer that are obtained from the servers of their respective providers (hereinafter referred to as "third-party providers"). These can be, for example, journey graphics (maps), recognition of bots, graphics, posts, videos or social media buttons (hereinafter uniformly referred to as "content").

The integration always requires that the third-party providers of this content process the IP address of the user, as without the IP address they would not be able to send the content to their browser. The IP address is thus required for the display of this content or function. We endeavour to only use content whose respective providers only use the IP address to deliver the content. By integrating the plug-ins, the social network receives the information that you have accessed the corresponding page of our website. If you are logged in to the social network, your visit can be assigned to your social network account.

If you do not want social networks to collect data about you via active plug-ins, you can either simply deactivate the social plug-ins with a click on our websites or select the function "Block third-party cookies" in your browser settings. Then the browser will not send any cookies to the server for embedded content from other providers. With this setting, however, other cross-page functions may no longer work in addition to the plug-ins.

For analysis and marketing purposes, we use products and services that are provided by Visable GmbH (www.visable.com) in cooperation with the latter. For this purpose, counting pixel technology is used to collect, process and store data in order to create at least pseudonymised and, where possible and reasonable, completely anonymised usage profiles. The collected data, which may initially still contain personal data, is transmitted to Visable or collected directly by Visable and used there to create the above-mentioned usage profiles. Visitors to this website are not personally identified and no other personal data is merged with the usage profiles. If IP addresses are identified as personal, they are deleted immediately. You can object to the forms of processing described here at any time with effect for the future:

Exclude from tracking (note: link sets a 1st party cookie for anopt-out)

Legal basis of the processing

Article 6 I lit. a GDPR serves our company as the legal basis for processing operations in which we obtain consent for a specific processing purpose. If the processing of personal data is necessary for the performance of a contract to which the data subject is a party, as is the case, for example, with processing operations that are necessary for the delivery of goods or the provision of any other service or consideration, the processing is based on Article 6 I lit. b of the GDPR. The same applies to processing operations that are necessary for the implementation of pre-contractual measures, for example in the case of enquiries about our products or services. If our company is subject to a legal obligation through which the processing of personal data becomes necessary, such as for the fulfilment of tax obligations, the processing is based on Art. 6 I lit. c.

In rare cases, the processing of personal data might be necessary to protect the vital interests of the data subject or another natural person. This would be the case, for example, if a visitor were to be injured on our premises and as a result his or her name, age, health insurance data or other vital information had to be passed on to a doctor, hospital or other third party. Then the processing would be based on Art. 6 I lit. d GDPR. Finally, processing operations could be based on Art. 6 I lit. f GDPR. Processing operations which are not covered by any of the aforementioned legal bases are based on this legal basis if the processing is necessary to protect a legitimate interest of our company or a third party, provided that the interests, fundamental rights and freedoms of the data subject are not overridden. Such processing operations are permitted to us in particular because they were specifically mentioned by the European legislator. In this respect, it took the view that a legitimate interest could be assumed if the data subject is a customer of the controller (recital 47, sentence 2 of the GDPR).
